Job Summary: Leads estimating and project management team; participates in estimating, pre-construction planning, and managing all phases of construction projects, while focusing on safety, quality, and continuous process improvement. Main Responsibilities Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams Support, promote, and practice the Company’s core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies Hire, direct and coordinate activities of staff on estimating and project management team; manage employee training, mentoring, and development Collaborate with management and provide relevant feedback regarding the performance of employees and the department Perform estimating work and respond to bid requests in order to secure future projects; oversee and approve estimating performed by team Coordinate with internal teams and subcontractors; communicate with engineers, inspectors, suppliers, etc. to ensure effective utilization of all resources in order to maximize profit/margin on construction projects Lead pre-construction and project status/progress meetings Ensure the company complies with OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulations and reporting requirements Coordinate with project managers and project engineers to ensure targets and deadlines are met Oversee preparation and maintenance of time-phase charts, subcontracts, purchase orders, material orders, and schedules Review and approve decisions concerning equipment needs, sequence of operations, and required staffing Maintain effective working relationships and effectively communicate with subcontractors and company business departments Resolve client and vendor complaints in a timely and respectful fashion; ensure that the Company maintains a positive image and provides unrivaled services Identify cost trends and lead efforts in cost reduction and process improvement Meet with accounting and management team to review revenue goals and implement strategies on a regular basis Compile data and produce reports; regularly present information to management Perform other duties as assigned Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering or equivalent combination of education and work experience Valid Driver’s License and clean driving history Skills: 5 years of experience running heavy highway, municipal, and/or commercial construction projects 3-5 years of experience working in a supervisory role preferred HCSS, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam and/or similar program experience Proficiency in use of computers and mobile devices (Android/iOS), including MS Office programs required Ability to lead, mentor, and develop others, define goals and objectives, and hold others accountable Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and solve complex problems Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents Ability to effectively present information to individuals at all levels of the organization Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community and resolve problems Physical Requirements: Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance Regularly required to operate a vehicle to travel to and from work sites Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently required to stand/work on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain Frequently required to sit for long periods at a desk using a computer Frequently exposed to typical construction site conditions, dust and loud noise, and all types of weather conditions Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity Compensation and Benefits: Compensation: $130,000-$160,000 DOE Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual's qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.
